I am proud to be the principal of William McKinley IS 259, The Pride of Bay Ridge. In the past I taught English, Math, and Science but Social Studies was always my passion. I went to college at Wagner College where I majored in Education and minored in History. I received my Master's Degree in Secondary Education from the College of Staten Island. I sponsor ALL clubs and activities at McKinley. In my free time I enjoy kayaking and training my dogs.

Anthony DeBenedetto
I am an Assistant Principal in charge of the English Department and Organization. In the past I've taught Math, ELA, SS, and Law through literature. I went to college at Brooklyn College where I majored in Political Science- International Relations & American Politics. I also received my Master's Degree from Brooklyn College in Political Science. I used to be the coach of the school's tennis club and cosponsor of the Leadership Club. In my spare time I like to walk, read, and play with my dog.
Fun Facts About Me: I hate wearing watches. I’ve been the cause of at least 6 minor car accidents.I was morbidly obese at 278 pounds until I was 22 years old. I ran eight ½ marathons and completed 1 virtual full marathon.

I am an Assistant Principal in charge of Testing, Discipline…I am a Jack of all trades! In the past I've taught Math, Science, English as a New Language and been a Substance Abuse Prevention and Intervention Specialist. I went to Brooklyn College where I majored in Psychology. I have three Master's Degrees. One in Counseling from the Alfred University School of Counseling and the other two in Administration and General and Special Education from Brooklyn College. I used to be the coach of the school's tennis club.

Fun Facts About Me: I once was attacked by fire ants and a hive of bees during the same summer when I was four years old. I like trying chocolate from different countries. I did landscape architecture prior to changing my career and becoming a teacher.

I started at McKinley as a math teacher in 2008. Since then I have taught all grades and levels of math, and started our Virtual Enterprise program. I went to college at Seton Hall University where I majored in Mathematics and Special Education.I received my Master's Degrees in Math Education and Educational Leadership from Brooklyn College. In my spare time I enjoy getting lost on the internet learning random new things.
Fun Facts About Me I love adventure and travel. Some of my favorites so far: swimming with great white sharks in South Africa, Mario carting around Japan, riding a camel and sleeping in the Sahara Desert, sky diving, and becoming a certified scuba diver. One day I would like to be in the Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest.

Ms. Adamadis. I’m a Science teacher at McKinley for 1 year now but have been teaching in NYC public schools for 12 years. I love riding my bike, hanging out with my family, my cat and dog, and my friends. I love hiking and going to the beach in Greece where I also visit a lot of my family. I’m a first generation American. My parents were born and raised in Greece. I love hanging in New York City parks. I’m bilingual and can read and write Greek as well. Ms. Basile. I am a Social Studies Teacher but I also worked for DOE Central as a Literacy specialist and coach. I went to college at the College of Staten Island where I majored in History with a focus in Education and minor in Italian. I also have a Master of Science in Education. Outside of school I coach at a Muay Thai school in Staten Island. I coach ages 5-12 and adults. I believe learning martial arts not only builds confidence in people of all ages, but aids in developing self discipline and supports a healthy active lifestyle.
Fun Facts About Me: I spent my 20s an amateur Muay Thai fighter. Now I am a certified judge and referee for children and adult Muay Thai events. I also enjoying coaching my students who have now had the opportunity to not only compete locally, but around the U.S as well. I have a passion for animal rescue. I have fostered many dogs and now have adopted two. In college I was able to study abroad and lived in Italy.
Ms. Basily. I am a paraprofessional. I went to college at Brooklyn College where I studied accounting. In my spare time I enjoy playing Soduku and chess.

I received my Master’s Degree in Special Education from Touro College. In my spare time, I like to relax/sleep, spend time with family and friends, watch TV, go to the beach, dance, go to Broadway shows, and enjoy life. I am one of the staff sponsors of the Starfish International Student Council Club.
Fun Facts About Me: I have a bubbly and fun personality. I love to laugh and make people happy, smile and laugh. I always wanted to be a teacher. It took me a long time to accomplish my goals and dreams, but I wouldn't be where I am in life if I did anything different. I went to college in North Carolina and I lived in Colorado for a few years. NY is and always will be home to me. I love the Pillsbury Doughboy, Gnomes, and my favorite character of all time is Garfield.
Ms. Bissonette. I am a paraprofessional. In the past I have also been a substitute teacher.When I started college in 2000, I studied education in a Community College then switched to business. I worked summer jobs in the restaurant industry and fell in love with it. I decided to attend Johnson & Wales University so that I could study Management and Culinary with a focus on Entrepreneurship. When I graduated I started looking for jobs in various cities because I knew I wanted to leave Rhode Island and explore different States. I met someone and decided to move to NYC where I was also able to obtain a job working as the Food & Beverage Manager for a hotel in midtown.
In 2010 I decided to leave the restaurant business due to the time demands and started working at a Law Office then went back to college and obtained my Paralegal degree which led to me working for a large law firm on Wall Street. in 2019 when I started working at McKinley as a Substitute Teacher. Since I really didn’t want to go back to college I became a full-time Paraprofessional in 2021 and in 2023 I became an LTA which gives me more inclusion in the classroom. At McKinley I am also the Assistant Girls’ Volleyball Coach and the School’s Treasurer.
Fun Facts About Me: In my spare time I love to follow woman’s sports and traveling the world. I am a season ticket holder for the NY Liberty and love to attend all home games and travel to any away games that I can. I also like to travel to different States and Countries to learn and immerse myself into the cultures of that area.
Ms. Boefer. I am a Science Teacher. I went to SUNY Geneseo and Brooklyn College where I majored in Business Administration. I received my Master''s Degree from the College of Staten Island in Science Education. I am one of the sponsors of the Science Olympiad Team.
Fun Facts About Me: I like to go to Rock concerts. I like to ski and hike and most other outdoor adventure activities. My mother, all of my siblings and I, and my kids all went to McKinley.

Fun Facts About Me: My birthday is the day after Christmas, which is why I was named Christine. I was once a student at McKinley. I have been to Disney World over thirty times.
Ms. Capparelli. I am a Physical Education teacher. In the past I've been a 1:1 para and a substitute teacher of all grades. I went to Manhattanville College where I majored in Psychology and Sport Studies. I received my masters degree from Manhattanville College in Physical Education. In my spare time, I like to workout, take my boxer dog on walks in the park and of course shop. During the winter months I enjoy skiing with my friends and family. During the warmer months I like to go on runs outside and attended baseball games. Go Mets! My goal is to run the NYC marathon one day. I also love to travel. I am a High School lacrosse coach at New Dorp in Staten Island. I attended and played there.

Fun Facts About Me: I knew my co-teacher, Ms.Fonseca for 14 years prior to working together. I traded in a 10 minute commute for a 1.5 hour commute because I love teaching at McKinley. You may not know that I have long hair, since you'll usually see me rocking my signature "bun" in the halls.
Mr. Cataldi. I am a Social Studies teacher. At Brooklyn College I majored in History and Secondary Education grades 7-12. I also received my Master's Degree in Special Education from Brooklyn College. In my spare time I like to watch tv and read. I am one of the editors for the school yearbook and one of the producers of Good Morning McKinley.

Ms. Caufield. I am a Social Studies teacher. In the past I've taught Law as an elective, Global History and Geography 9&10, AP World History. I went to college at The University of Scranton where I majored in Political Science. I received my Master's from CUNY Brooklyn College. I am the faculty sponsor for Participatory Budgeting, School Leadership Team, and the Staff Development Committee.

I love Star Wars. I first got into it in 7th Grade when they reintroduced the special edition of the original 3 films in movie theaters. I've loved it since.
I learned in junior high school that I wanted to do theater. For my 6th grade midterm, my teacher had the class sing a Broadway song on stage in front of the class. She told me I had to sing when we got back from Winter Break. I was horrified because I was really shy and didn't like being the center of attention. So, everyday in December I rehearsed at home by recording myself and critiquing it. Finally, the big day came. My teacher called my name. I felt extremely overwhelmed when I walked onto the stage. I was shaking and stuttering when I introduced myself. Then, something amazing happened: when she started playing the piano, it was like an unknown side of me was unlocked and I turned into someone else. I sang and danced to "If I Were a Rich Man" and when I ended the song, I bowed and RAN off the stage...but my class was cheering so loud for me and my teacher said "What Was That?!" as I barely spoke prior to that day. That moment changed my life.

Ms. Green. I am an Occupational Therapist (OT). Some of the other subjects I’ve taught or jobs I’ve had include working with individuals ages 0–99. For nearly 10 years, I have also worked with babies ages 0–3. Additionally, I work summer school for the New York City Public Schools across various boroughs, age groups, and populations. For the past three years, I have supported the Borough of Brooklyn as a Senior Instructional Therapist, working closely with my supervisor to provide workshops, onboard new hires, mentor staff, offer clinical support and guidance, interview NYCPS candidates, complete observations, evaluations, Functional Status Reviews (FSRs), and collaborate with staff, administrators, and principals. I have previously assisted with interviewing incoming Hofstra University OT candidates. As I continue to work at McKinley (January 2026 will mark 9 years), I have begun a new journey this year as the founding OT at a brand-new elementary school in District 20. I taught and helped write the original VE-JV curriculum, which at the time, was piloted in only 3 middle schools in all of NYC, now offered in 26 NYC middle schools and over 100 programs throughout the country.

Ms. Solano. I am the 8th grade Dean. In the past I have taught Social Studies and Math as well as ELA to all middle school grades. I went to college at Penn State University where I majored in Elementary Education. I received my Master's Degree in General/Special Ed 5-9 from Touro University. I am the coach for the Cross Country/Track & Field team with Mr. Yentema (one of our Creative Connections partners.) In my spare time I like to run, read, and write. Ms. Zhao. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to help build a strong math foundation for our students here at McKinley. Teaching math is my passion, and it’s been my goal since I was in third grade! I’ve taught in several places—including outside of New York, one year in Hawaii, and two years in Maryland. Before joining McKinley, I also taught high school math courses such as Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2. Now, I’m excited to inspire a love of learning in my middle school classroom.
